What XPeng announced
On 8 October 2026, XPeng named its robotaxi service XPENG YOYO (Chinese name 小鹏悠游). It opened online registration in China through invitation codes and launched a dedicated robotaxi page on its website. No public launch date or fleet scale was disclosed.
The vehicle and testing
The vehicle is based on XPeng’s GX SUV and uses a vision-only L4 system without LiDAR or HD maps, with four Turing chips (3,000 TOPS) and the VLA 2.0 model. XPeng has reported more than 2,000 internal test rides in Guangzhou and, in August 2026, Guangzhou remote-testing approval for road tests with no safety officer in the driver’s seat.
Plans for 2027
XPeng aims to offer passenger services without safety drivers in 2027 and to partner with Chinese and international mobility platforms that year. Amap is its first SDK ecosystem partner.
Why it matters for Australia
XPeng is another vision-only L4 contender planning international expansion through mobility platforms in 2027. No Australian launch has been announced. T Cab is AV-agnostic and claims no relationship, affiliation or endorsement with XPeng.
